From November 14 to 17, 2024, Kuala Lumpur hosted the 27th International Metropolis Conference, marking a significant milestone as the first time the event was held in the Southeast Asia region. Themed "Migration Futures: Evolving Challenges in a Digital Age.

Organized by the Institute of Ethnic Studies (KITA) at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), in collaboration with Metropolis International, the Selangor State Government, and UKMShape, the conference underscored the importance of inclusive migration policies in our digital era.
The 27th global migration forum was held in Kuala Lumpur in November 2024
